Manually Adding PreVeil to Apple Mail
Note: These instructions is for Apple Mail on Big Sur and above, older versions of different Mac operating systems may be different.
Prior to configuring Apple Mail, please access your PreVeil account in a browser, mouse over Settings in the upper right-hand corner, then select Add to Mail Client. Then scroll down and click on the Click here for instructions to manually add PreVeil to other email programs (Outlook on Mac, etc.) This page will have information you’ll need for some of the configuration steps below.
Adding Your Account to Apple Mail
If Apple Mail is open, close it before proceeding.
Click on the Apple icon in the Mac menu bar, and select System Preferences.
Select Internet Accounts.
Click on the Add Account button.
Select Add Other Account.
Select Mail account.
In the corresponding fields, enter:
Name: (Encrypted) your name
Email Address: your PreVeil email address
Password: copy and paste the password from the “Add to Mail Client” page in the browserThen click the Sign In button.
In the corresponding fields, enter:
User Name: your PreVeil email address
Account Type: IMAP
Incoming Mail Server: 127.0.0.1
Outgoing Mail Server: 127.0.0.1Then click the Sign In button.
Note: Ignore the “Unable to verify account name or password” error message, this will be resolved after the additional configuration steps below have been completed.
Click Next.
Leave Mail selected and uncheck Notes, and then click Done.
Open Apple Mail.
Click on Mail from the menu bar, and click Settings.
Select your PreVeil account from the left-hand menu, and click on the Server Settings tab.
Under the Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) section enter the following (Note: some of the fields may be pre-filled):
User Name: your PreVeil email address
Password: copy & paste from the “Add to Mail Client” page in your browser.
Host Name: 127.0.0.1
Uncheck the “Automatically manage connection settings” check box
Port: 4000
Authentication: PasswordThen click on the Advanced IMAP Settings button.
Select the Allow insecure authentication check box, and click OK.
In the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) section, click on the drop down in the Account field and select Edit SMTP Server List.
Make sure the PreVeil account is selected, and click on the Server Settings tab and enter the following (Note: some of the fields may be pre-filled):
Description: PreVeil
User Name: your PreVeil email address
Password: copy & paste from the “Add to Mail Client” page in your browser.
Host Name: 127.0.0.1
Uncheck the “Automatically manage connection settings” check box
Port: 4001
Authentication: None
Then click on the Advanced tab, and select the Allow insecure authentication check box, then click OK.
Click on Save.
