How to Change the Location of the PreVeil Local Sync Directory
When you create your PreVeil account, it will create a local directory where you can also access and manage your Drive data. By default, this directory will be located at the root of your Windows home directory. But you have the ability to change the location of that directory via the following steps should you need to do so.
Some considerations when making this change:
This functionality is currently only available for Windows operating systems.
The Windows account you’re logged in with will need to have admin privileges account to make this change.
We do not recommend moving the local sync directory to an external storage location. We suggest moving it to a new location on the existing hard drive, or to a location on another internal hard drive.
Click on the Windows search bar/icon and type in Environmental Variables. Click on Open when the result comes up
Click on the Environmental Variables button.
In the User Variables section, click on the New button.
In the Variable Name field, type in PREVEIL_DRIVE_ROOT_DIR.
Click on the Browse Directory button.
Select the location you want to move the location of the local directory to, then click the OK button. Locations at the root of a drive are not currently supported. Please locate at least one subfolder level.
Click the OK button.
The new location will now be represented via a value in the User Variables section. Click the OK button.
Reboot your computer. After rebooting, the local directory should now be in the newly chosen location.
