Overview

This article addresses commonly asked questions about using the PreVeil Email Gateway, including supported use cases, limitations, and configuration options.

FAQs

1. Can I send emails from my non-PreVeil address to my PreVeil address?

Yes. You may send emails to your own PreVeil address from a non-PreVeil account.

Example:
desi@gmail.comdesi@secure.acme-e2ee.com

The message will be delivered to the PreVeil mailbox.

2. Can I send emails from my non-PreVeil address to a co-worker’s PreVeil address?

No. Sending emails from a non-PreVeil address to another user’s PreVeil address is not supported.

3. Can I send an email to multiple different recipients?

Yes, but with some limitations:

  • External recipients will not see internal recipient information.

  • The gateway only handles communication between internal and external users.

  • Inbound emails with external recipients may be received if the sender’s address or domain is added to the External Email Addresses list.

4. Can I whitelist my own domain?

Yes. You can whitelist your organization’s domain to allow emails from trusted senders.

5. Can I whitelist a wildcard domain (e.g., *.example.com)?

No. Wildcard characters are not supported in domain names.

6. Can I whitelist a top-level domain (TLD) like .mil or .gov?

No. Whitelisting by TLD is not supported.
You must use a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) (e.g., agency.gov, not .gov).

7. What is the attachment size limit?

📎 75 MB total per message

This includes all attachments combined.

8. Is the Email Gateway supported in Outlook, Gmail, and the PreVeil mobile app?

|| Platform || Supported || Notes ||
| Outlook (desktop) | ✅ Yes | Full support for Email Gateway functionality |
| Gmail extension | ❌ No | Not supported in browser-based Gmail |
| PreVeil mobile app (iOS/Android) | ✅ Yes | Fully supported on both platforms |

9. The Email Gateway supports one internal domain and one external domain.

  • The internal domain is used for handling email within PreVeil’s secure network.

  • The external domain is used for internet-based email communication.

The gateway translates and routes messages between these two domains.
➡️ Multiple internal or external domains are not supported at this time.
