Key Menu Icon Missing on Mac Menu Bar

Key Menu Icon Missing on Mac Menu Bar

Applies to: Full PreVeil on a Mac device with a notch.

If your Mac laptop is a newer model with the notch in the menu bar, it could result in a missing PreVeil key menu icon.

MacOS treats the notch area as a hard boundary. When icons fill the space to the right of the notch, they don't go "under" but are simply hidden from view.

Options for fixing this issue would include:

  1. Close unneeded applications that put an icon on the Mac menu bar.

  2. Use Control Center: Move Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Battery, etc., to Control Center (System Settings > Control Center) to free up space on the menu bar.

  3. Rearrange Icons: Hold Command, then drag the PreVeil key menu icon to the right on the menu bar.

  4. Change Display Resolution: In System Settings > Displays, select a scaled resolution to make the menu bar appear lower, below the notch (e.g., the largest text option). Note: this option reduces monitor space.
