Restarting Cloud Drive Services on Windows (Beta)
If you are experiencing issues with PreVeil Cloud Drive, restarting the PreVeil services is often the first step to resolving them. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Run the Service Restart Script
Open File Explorer and navigate to
C:\PreVeil\filesync.Double-click
run.batto launch it.
Important: Do not run
run.batas an administrator. Launch it as a standard user by simply double-clicking the file.
The script will stop any running PreVeil processes and restart both the PreVeil Client (PreVeil_Client.exe) and the Cloud Drive Provider (cloud-drive.exe) automatically.
What run.bat does
The script performs the following actions in order:
Terminates
PreVeil_Client.exe,cloud-drive.exe, andPreVeilShellExtension.exeif they are running.Relaunches
PreVeil_Client.exefromC:\PreVeil\filesync\in daemon mode with local sync disabled, redirecting its output to log files in%LOCALAPPDATA%\PreVeil\drive\logs\.Checks whether the PreVeil Cloud Drive Provider app package (
PreVeil.CloudDriveProvider) is installed, and if so, relaunchescloud-drive.exefrom its installation directory.
Step 2: Manually Launch cloud-drive.exe (if needed)
In some cases, cloud-drive.exe may not restart automatically. If Cloud Drive is still not functioning after running run.bat, you can launch it manually.
Note:
cloud-drive.exeis located inside a protected system folder (C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\). This folder requires administrator permissions to access. You will need to either use an elevated command prompt or temporarily grant yourself access via folder permissions.
The executable is located at:
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\PreVeil.CloudDriveProvider_<version>_neutral__v0a2wm3r1ksxy\cloud-drive.exe
The folder name includes the installed version number and will vary depending on the version of PreVeil you have installed. For example:
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\PreVeil.CloudDriveProvider_1.0.27068.3485_neutral__v0a2wm3r1ksxy\cloud-drive.exe
To launch it manually:
Open File Explorer.
Navigate to
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\.Locate the folder beginning with
PreVeil.CloudDriveProvider_.Open the folder and double-click
cloud-drive.exe.
If you are unable to access this folder, contact your IT administrator for assistance.
If the issue persists after following these steps, please file a support ticket or reach out to the PreVeil support team.
