Issue

With the latest Cloud Drive build you may see the local sync folders appear as document icons instead of folder icons in the Windows File Explorer. This is a display artifact caused by a stale File Explorer icon cache and does not indicate a problem with sync or data integrity.

Resolution

Clear the File Explorer cache using the steps below. This removes cached Recent File History and Quick Access shortcuts that File Explorer stores for fast loading.

Clear Recent File History

  1. Press Win + E to open File Explorer.

  2. Click the three dots (•••) on the top toolbar.

  3. Select Options.

  4. Under the General tab, locate the Privacy section.

  5. Click Clear next to Clear File Explorer history.

  6. Click OK.

Notes

✔ Expected Result

After clearing the cache, reopen File Explorer. PreVeil Cloud Drive sync folders should display with the correct folder icons. No restart is required.

⚠ Note

Clearing File Explorer history removes Recent Files and Quick Access pinned shortcuts from the toolbar. These are personal convenience shortcuts only — no PreVeil data, emails, or files are affected by this action.
