Desktop PreVeil Version 6.2.1 (Windows)
Release date: July 14, 2026
PreVeil Desktop 6.2.1 for Windows is a stability release addressing a critical Cloud Drive issue that could result in mass file deletions, along with installation reliability, account management, and performance improvements.
Bug fixes
Cloud Drive multiple instance issue (mass deletion)
Addressed an issue where multiple instances of Cloud Drive could run simultaneously, which could result in mass file deletions. Users should restart their computer after installing 6.2.1 to ensure the fix takes full effect.
Cloud Drive startup reliability
Addressed several conditions that could prevent Cloud Drive from starting correctly after installation or system restart. The installer now prompts for a reboot when required, and a startup timing issue has been resolved where the Key Menu's auto-restart timer could race with system startup. A bug has also been fixed where stopping PreVeil services and then restarting the computer could leave Cloud Drive in a stopped state on next login.
Installation reliability
Fixed an issue where the 6.2.0 installer could fail for some users, leaving the application in an uninstallable state. Affected users can successfully install or upgrade to 6.2.1.
Recovery group assignment stuck in pending state
Resolved an issue where a newly onboarded user's Recovery Group assignment would remain stuck in a pending state even after the user opened PreVeil multiple times. The assignment now completes as expected after the user launches the application.
Account key transfer failure on page refresh
Fixed an issue where refreshing the Copy Account Keys page mid-flow could cause the connection to not terminate cleanly, resulting in a "Transfer Failed" error on the subsequent attempt. Account key transfers now complete reliably after a page refresh.
What's improved
Faster application load times
Optimized the way organization information is fetched on initial load. The application no longer retrieves the full user list when only organization-level data is needed, reducing load time particularly for larger organizations.
Improved diagnostic log collection
Log exports now collect additional files including Key Menu logs, installer logs captured during installation, and application data stored outside the default location. This improves the ability to diagnose issues when contacting support.
Download
Go to preveil.com/download to download the installer and then run it. Note that most operating systems require administrator privileges to run installations and upgrades.
