A Recovery Code file is a PDF file that has your PreVeil encryption key data encoded onto it. This recovery code can be used to regain access to your account if something were to happen to your existing that encryption key on the device you have access to your PreVeil account onuse to access PreVeil.

Note: You want to make sure to store this file someplace other than on the device you use to access your PreVeil account. If that device were to become inaccessible for any reason and you needed to recover your account on a new device, access to this file is required. Some suggestions as to where to store this file would include:

  • Inside a web based password manager that can be accessed on other devices.

  • Inside another cloud service provider like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, etc., as these accounts can be accessed on other devices via your login credentials.

  • On a thumb drive.

  • Print it out and store a physical copy.
