A Recovery Code file is a PDF file that has your PreVeil encryption key informationdata encoded onto it. This recovery code can be used to regain access to your account if something were to happen to your existing that encryption key on the device you use to access PreVeil.

In a PreVeil browser window, mouse over Settings in the upper right-hand corner, and then click on Recovery Code.

Install PreVeil on the computer you want to recover your account on. The installer package can be downloaded from preveil.com/download.
Once installed, open a browser on that computer and navigate to the following address: 127.0.0.1:4003/backup-recovery.

Open the recover code PDF file, and copy the recovery code string located there.

Paste that string into the Recovery Code Text box in the browser, and click on the Restore button to rebuild your PreVeil encryption key and regain access to your account.

Recovering on a Mobile Device
On your phone or tablet, open the PreVeil app.
If you don’t already have the app on your phone or tablet, you can download it from the app store. We support
both iOS and Android mobile platforms .
Click on Add Existing Account.

If prompted, allow the PreVeil app to access your camera.
Scan the QR code from your recovery file, and it will transfer a copy of your key to your phone and allow you to access your account.
