A Recovery Code file is a PDF file that has your PreVeil encryption key data encoded onto it. This recovery code can be used to regain access to your account if something were to happen to your existing that encryption key on the device you have access to your PreVeil account on. use to access PreVeil.

Generating a Recovery Code on a Computer
In a PreVeil browser window, mouse over Settings in the upper right-hand corner, and then click on Recovery Code.

We recommend saving a copy of the file somewhere other than on the computer where you have access to PreVeil.
The recovery code file saves as a PDF, so you also have the option to print out a copy for yourself.

On the computerInstall PreVeil on the computer you want to recover your account on. The installer package can be downloaded from preveil.com/download.
Once installed, open a browser .Navigate to on that computer and navigate to the following address: 127.0.0.1:4003/backup-recovery.

Paste that string into the Recovery Code Text box in the browser, and click on the Restore button to rebuild your PreVeil encryption key and regain access to your account.

Recovering on a Mobile Device
On your phone or tablet, open the PreVeil app.
If you don’t already have the app on your phone or tablet, you can download it from the app store. We support
both iOS and Android mobile platforms .
Click on Add Existing Account.
