New Feature: Device Wipe

Overview: Admins now have the ability to delete user devices, ensuring complete removal of PreVeil data including Drive files, emails, logs, cache, and user keys. When a device is locked, all data except the user key is deleted. End users also have the Device Wipe feature when deleting their own devices.

Instructions:

For Administrators:

  1. Locking or Deleting a Device:

    • Go to the Admin Console at 127.0.0.1:4003/admin-console.

    • Open the user's profile.

    • Click the Devices tab.

    • Click the ellipsis next to the device.

    • Select Lock or Delete.

    • The device wipe feature activates.

For Users:

  1. Deleting Their Device:

    • Go to the PreVeil browser app at 127.0.0.1:4003.

    • Navigate to Settings > Device Management.

    • Click the ellipsis next to the device.

    • Select Lock or Delete.

    • The device wipe feature activates.

FAQs:

  • What happens if the device is offline when a lock or delete action is initiated?

    • The data will be kept, and the process will be queued for the device’s return.

  • Is third-party mail client data deleted?

    • No, data in third-party mail clients like Outlook is not affected by the device wipe. Users are responsible for removing the external data.
