The Data Export section of the Admin Console allows you to download a decrypted copy of your organization’s data. Depending on the data chosen for export, it could be downloaded in a couple different formats: Logs will be downloaded in a CSV format, while Mail and Drive data will be downloaded into directories indicated by the user’s email address.

Performing a Data Export will require that an Approval Group be set to this activity prior to initiating an export.

Data Export Filters

There are a few filters available to you to refine the Users, Content, and Date Range for your export.

The Users filter allows you to select all users or specific users within your organization.

The Content filter allows you to select the type of data that will be exported. The options are:

  • Mail

  • Drive

  • Logs

  • Access Control (ACL) Report

The Date Range filter allows you to select a custom date range. The default setting is “Forever”, which goes back to the creation of your PreVeil organization.

You can click in the Date Range field and select from from pre-configured options, or create your own Custom Range.

Performing a Data Export

1. Once you’ve set your filters as needed, click on the Get Started button.

2. Click Yes to invoke the Approval Group you’ve assigned to the Data Export activity.

3. You will be brought to a screen where you can see the members of the Approval Group associated with the Data Export activity. You can also see the details of the requested Data Export.

Once an approver has approved this activity, you’ll see a green check mark next to their name.

4. The approver will receive a request to approve this activity, and the requestor will receive this Awaiting Connection screen.

5. Once the approver begins the approval process, a connection between the requestor’s machine and the approver’s machine will be made, and the requestor will provide the approver with this 8-character code to input on their machine.

6. The approver will enter the provided code, and click on Approve.

7. The approver will receive confirmation that the approval response was successfully sent.

8. Once the requisite number of approvers approve the Data Export, click on the Start Export button.

9. Enter the location where the Data Export will be saved, and then click on the Start Export button.

10. Depending on the amount of data being exported, a Data Export may take a few minutes. You’ll receive confirmation once it’s been completed.

11. Once the export is complete, you will be able to see it in the directory that you created for it.

To see a user’s Mail and Drive data, click on the directory that corresponds to their email address to see more.
