Drive Search in the PreVeil Browser App
Applies To: Full PreVeil users on the 5.3.1 build or later, and PreVeil Express users
Using the Search Functionality
Use the search bar in the upper right-hand corner of the browser app to search for folder or file names.
There are filters available to filter the results by Folder, Shared Folder, or File, as well as a field to enter the file extension and filter by that property as well.
Selecting a folder name from the results will open up the folder with that name so that you can see the contents within.
Selecting a file from the results will open that file in the viewer window in the PreVeil browser app, if that file type is supported by the viewer window.
If the file type is not supported by the viewer window, as in this example here, clicking on it will bring you to the folder where the file is located, but with a message that the file type is not supported by the viewer window. You would need to manually open that file within the correct application for that file type.
PreVeil Drive Search Limitations
Overview: Version 1 of PreVeil Drive search introduces several key limitations.
Search Scope: The search functionality is limited to folder and file names only; it does not extend to content within the files.
Performance: Each search queries all available content. This may affect search speed, particularly in systems with over 5000 items, as the ability to page through content or search within subsets of files is not available.
Special Characters: Searches beginning with a space (e.g.,
" paper"
) on PDF files will return no matches.Folder Selection: Users cannot select specific folders to search; only global searches are supported in this version.
