Shared Folder Rename in PreVeil Drive
Applies To:
Full PreVeil - build 5.4.0 and higher
Notes
The 5.4.0 build of PreVeil adds the functionality for owners and co-owners of a shared folder being able to change the name of the folder and have that name change reflected for any other users that have access to that folder.
For PreVeil builds prior to 5.4.0, if an owner or co-owner changed the name of a shared folder, it would only change for them and not anyone else that has access to that folder.
To use the new rename functionality correctly, please make sure to upgrade all your users to be on the 5.4.0 build or higher.
To determine what build of PreVeil you have installed, see here: Which version of PreVeil software am I running?
To upgrade PreVeil to the latest build, the installer package can be located at preveil.com/download.
Only the owner of a folder (the person who created and shared it) and co-owners of the folder can use the rename functionality.
Co-owners of a folder are those who are given the Edit & Share permission level when the folder is shared with them.
When renaming a shared folder, a couple things to be aware of:
The following characters in a file or folder name are not acceptable to PreVeil and may cause sync errors: < (less than), > (greater than), : (colon), " (double quote), / (forward slash), \ (backslash), | (vertical bar or pipe), ? (question mark), * (asterisk), & (ampersand)
The full character limit can be no longer than 255 characters. This includes all characters in the folder, any subfolders, all the way down to the file at the lowest subfolder level. If the full path is longer than 255 characters, this will cause sync issues for the data in that folder syncing down to the local PreVeil Drive directory in Windows File Explorer.
