Shared Folder Notification

Introducing the Shared Folder Notification feature for shared folders! This innovative addition enhances collaboration and keeps participants informed about any changes within the shared folder.

Key Features:

1. Watch Folders:

Participants can now opt to watch specific shared folders. By selecting the "Watch" option, they will be alerted to any modifications, ensuring they never miss important updates.

2. Customizable Alerts:

Participants can customize their notification settings to set the frequency of notifications, such as immediate, daily, or weekly summaries.

3. Notification Emails:

Participants will receive alerts of changes done on shared folders to view in the PreVeil Drive.

4. Recent Changes:

A dedicated Recent Changes page is available within the shared folder interface, allowing participants to review the history of changes at their convenience. This log can be sorted by date, user, or event.

How to Watch a Shared Folder

Go to Drive, locate a shared folder, click its ellipsis, and click the Watch menu item.

Multiple folders may be watched by checking them and clicking the eye icon.

Note that only shared folders can be watched.

Where to locate the Watched page

Go to Drive and locate the new Watched menu item on the left panel.

It will take you to the Watched page with two tabs, Recent Changes and Watched Items.

Watched Page

Recent Changes

The Recent Changes page displays changes for all watched shared folders. The view is organized by name, event, user, and modified date and can be sorted. Users may filter by user, timeframe, and item name. Details of a particular change may be found in the ellipsis of the event.

Select email frequency determines how often you will receive the email notification. The default choice is none and users may enable it by choosing Weekly, Daily, or Immediate.

Notification Email

The notification email goes to your non-PreVeil mailbox and alerts you of changes to the shared folder. Details of the changes are securely provided in PreVeil Drive.

Watched Items

The Watched Items tab displays all the folders you chose to watch. It is organized by name, location, type, and modified, and can be sorted. The ellipsis allows you to see recent changes for the folder or unwatch.

FAQ

1. Are watched sub-items included in the watcher?
   Yes, a shared folder and its descendants are counted in the watcher’s mechanism.

2. Are notifications specific to events on shared folders?
   No, the alert is a general message of one or more changes done to a watched folder but the details are found in the Watched page.

3. Can we set a watch on individual files?
   At this time the feature is designed for shared folders only.

4. Must all users be on 5.7.0 to watch shared folders?
   A folder watcher must be on desktop client 5.7.0 or higher. Folder changes made by users not yet on 5.7.0+ are counted.

Notes

The Watched Items filter by name is restricted to items on the active page.
