Add and use PreVeil in Apple Mail

Add PreVeil to Apple Mail

Read this if you have already installed PreVeil on your Mac, and you are ready to add PreVeil to Apple Mail.

It is important that once your PreVeil account is activated on your device, you configure your recovery settings. If you don’t have recovery settings configured, and you only have your account on one device and you delete PreVeil, you will permanently lose access to all the data on your account.

1 . To install PreVeil in Apple Mail, click the "Add PreVeil to Apple Mail" button at the end of your PreVeil account creation process...

...or go to the Settings menu at preveil.com/app, and select the Add to Mail Client option.

To get to your PreVeil account settings quickly, click the PreVeil key icon on the top bar of your Mac screen, and select Settings from the drop-down menu.

2. After you select the "Add PreVeil to Apple Mail" option from the Settings menu, this screen displays.  Click the "Add PreVeil to Apple Mail" button.

3. The installation into Apple Mail begins, and the following message displays:

4. When the installation is complete, you will find your existing messages, including a Welcome email from PreVeil, in your new PreVeil mailbox in Apple Mail.

If you do not see your new PreVeil Mailbox as illustrated above, click the "Mailboxes" button at the top left of the window to see your Mailboxes.  Then click the right arrow next to the Inbox to expand and view all of your Apple Mail inboxes as shown below.

Use PreVeil in Apple Mail

Use your new PreVeil mailbox in Apple Mail the same way you would use your regular Apple Mail account.

If you have more than one email account in Apple Mail and you want to send email from your PreVeil account, you must select the PreVeil account in the From field of the Apple Mail new message window. That account is prefixed with (PV) in the email account list.

Using your PreVeil email account, send emails to other PreVeil users or non-PreVeil users. You can attach files; link text within the email; and format text just as you do with regular Apple Mail email. All content is encrypted until it reaches the recipient.

If any of the recipients of your email are not PreVeil users, you will receive the following message, and that recipient is invited to join PreVeil.
