Using PreVeil Drive on Windows

Accessing Drive

You can access PreVeil Drive from File Explorer or a browser. We support Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or IE 11.

You can get to your locally synced Drive folder in File Explorer directly from the Key Menu, or use the desktop shortcut to open PreVeil in the browser.

You can also access PreVeil Drive in your browser by going to preveil.com/app and clicking the Drive tab at the top of the page.

Your PreVeil Drive folder can be found in File Explorer under your home directory. You can access your Drive folder directly in File Explorer using the key menu. Just click on the folder icon to open.

Your PreVeil Drive folder is also automatically added to your Favorites/Quick Access sidebar for easier access.

When you use PreVeil Drive for the first time, there will be no folders in the My PreVeil list on the browser or in your PreVeil Drive folder in File Explorer.

Creating a new folder

In order to start sharing files with others, you'll need to create folders where those files will be uploaded. You can create new folders on either your browser or local hard drive.

In the Browser

Navigate to Drive through the key menu or by clicking on the "Drive" tab in the browser. The My PreVeil page displays. There will be no folders in the My PreVeil list when you first log onto Drive, so click the Create New Folder icon.

You will see a field that says New Folder Name.

Click this field and give your folder a name, then press the Enter key. You will see a green success message box if the folder is created.

The orange arrow is pointing to the folder icon next to the folder name, which is solid blue. This indicates that the folder is not shared.

You can also create a new folder in File Explorer as you would normally for all local files & folders. Your Drive folder is located in your home directory.

In File Explorer

Navigate to your PreVeil Drive folder in File Explorer.

Open the PreVeil folder and create a new folder as normal.

The newly created folder will show one of the badges on the left. A green badge indicates the folder is fully synced with the server; a blue badge indicates that the syncing is in progress.

You cannot create/upload files or folders that have the same name as folders or files already in your PreVeil folder.

Accepting a shared folder invitation

When someone shares a folder with you through PreVeil, you will receive an email notification in PreVeil that looks like this:

Click the appropriate button, which will bring you to the Invitations tab in your Drive.

Click the Accept button. A green banner indicating you have successfully accepted the invitation will appear.

Then, navigate to the My PreVeil tab. The shared folder will now be visible. Click to open and interact with the folder.

Selective Sync

This feature allows you to unsync a folder from your computer, freeing up space on your local hard drive. To unsync a folder, select the folder to open the folder settings. Then, toggle the Sync to devices button off. This will delete the locally stored folder and its contents. To resync the folder locally, simply reverse these steps.
