Changing PreVeil Express Authentication Method
When creating a PreVeil Express account, you must choose an authentication method for accessing that account. Authentication methods include:
Receiving an SMS text message to your phone with a verification code.
Using an authenticator app to generate the verification code.
You have the ability to change from one authentication method to the other if you so choose: from SMS to an authenticator app, or from an authenticator app to SMS.
Note: You must have access to the authentication method you originally selected, as you must be signed into your PreVeil Express account to make this change.
To change your authentication method from an authenticator app to an SMS text message
Sign into your PreVeil account.
Click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner and select Change Authentication.
Turn on the toggle for the text message option.
Enter the phone number you want to use to receive the SMS text messages for verification and click the Submit button. Normal data and text messaging rates apply.
Go to your authenticator app and enter in the verification code you see there into this next box and click the Continue button.
You will get a success message that your authentication method has now been set to SMS text messaging.
To change your authentication method from an SMS text message to an authenticator app
Sign into your PreVeil account.
Click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner and select Change Authentication.
Turn on the toggle for the authenticator app option.
Enter the averification code that will be texted to your phone and click the Verify button.
Open an authenticator app of your choosing and scan the QR code. (Note: the authenticator app you choose must support TOTP as an authentication option.). This will create an entry for PreVeil in that app, and should automatically pre-fill the verification code. Click the Verify button.
You will receive confirmation that your authentication method has been successfully changed.
