Use PreVeil on iOS

You can use the PreVeil email account on your iPhone or iPad as you would your normal email application to send encrypted emails to other people with PreVeil accounts. If you send an email to anyone who does not have a PreVeil account, they will receive an email from PreVeil inviting them to install PreVeil before they can view your email.

Open PreVeil

Find and tap the PreVeil icon on your iPhone or iPad.

PreVeil Settings on iPhone/iPad

You can use the PreVeil iOS app to primarily send and receive encrypted email.  However, you can also use it to do a number of things related to your PreVeil account.  You can do these things from the Settings screen, accessed by tapping the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

On the Settings screen, you can:

Recovery Group

Set up a recovery group as soon as you create your PreVeil account. Without a Recovery Group configured, if you only have your account on one device and you delete PreVeil or lose your device, you will permanently lose access to all the data in your account.

PreVeil allows you to recover your account by setting up a Recovery Group – a group of individuals you trust who will let you regain access to your account in case you lose your devices. Recovery Groups use PreVeil's Approval Group Technology, a patented method for recovering your private key without giving anybody (even members of your recovery group) access to your account or your data.

Add Device

This option allows you to copy your private key from another computer or mobile device (where PreVeil is installed) onto the iPhone or iPad you are using when you select this option.

Disconnect Your Account

Use this option to remove the PreVeil app and your PreVeil account from your iPhone.

If you do this, and you do not have PreVeil installed on another device, or you have not set up a recovery group, you will permanently lose access to all the data on your account.

Access Your Inbox

From Settings, return to your Inbox by clicking "Inbox" at the top left of the screen.

From the mailbox list, tap "Inbox" to access your PreVeil inbox where you can send and receive encrypted email.

If the entered email address belongs to someone who is not a PreVeil user, a vertical gray bar appears to the left of their address. If the email address belongs to a PreVeil user, a vertical orange bar appears to the left of their address.

Tap the paperclip icon at the top of the screen to be able to add attachments to your email. They will also be encrypted. Tap Send when you are ready to send the email.
