What is a Recovery Group?

A recovery group is a set of PreVeil users who can help you recover your private key in the event that you’ve lost all your phones and computers that have PreVeil installed on them (i.e. you’ve lost all copies of your private key).

Recovery Groups use Approval Group technology - PreVeil’s patented method for avoiding centralized administration and access. Approval Group technology restricts certain privileged actions by only allowing these actions to take place after a specified number of Approval Group members have approved the action. Approval Groups are enforced cryptographically and not via business logic, so there is a provable audit trail for any Approval Group and Approval Group member action.
