Using the Browser App on Windows

Once you have installed PreVeil on your computer and created your PreVeil account, you can send and receive encrypted email using your web browser with the PreVeil web application. Simply go to www.preveil.com/app to access the application. You can also use the PreVeil Key Menu that was added when you installed PreVeil on your device.

PreVeil's browser requirements are Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox. Other browsers, such as Safari, are not officially supported at this time.

You can use the PreVeil browser application to send and receive encrypted email and store, share, and download documents on Drive. You can also use it to access online help for PreVeil from the Support menu.

You can also use the options on the Settings menu to:

To send an encrypted email, click the orange "Compose" button above your Inbox.

A new email window appears. In the To: field, enter the email address(es) for the people who will receive the email.

You can format text and add links to text using the appropriate buttons on the editing toolbar above the body of the message.

If you want to add an attachment to the email, click the paperclip in the editing toolbar, and then browse for and select the file you want to attach. The attached file appears below your Subject line. If necessary, use the small "x" to the right of the attachment to delete it before sending your message. You can also drag & drop files into the body of the message to attach them to your email.

If the entered email address belongs to someone who is not a PreVeil user, a vertical gray bar appears to the left of their address. If the email address belongs to a PreVeil user, a vertical orange bar appears to the left of their name.

Once you click the "Send" button, you will see the following message as PreVeil sends your encrypted email:

If any of the recipients of your email are not PreVeil users, you will receive the following message, and that recipient is invited to join PreVeil.

It's important that once your PreVeil account is activated on your computer, phone, or tablet, you configure your recovery settings. Without a Recovery Group configured, if you only have your account on one device and you delete PreVeil or lose your device, you will permanently lose access to all the data in your account.
