Admin Console - Email Gateway

What is Email Gateway?

  • The Email Gateway allows an organization to communicate outside of the PreVeil platform in a seamless experience for outside parties. With the Email Gateway, users within a PreVeil organization will be able to exchange email with recipients with a non-PreVeil address.

Why consider Email Gateway?

  • PreVeil operates on a closed network, meaning that with your PreVeil account you are communicating only with other PreVeil users.

  • If you try to communicate with a non-PreVeil user via your PreVeil account, they will be prompted to create a free PreVeil Express account.

  • However, you may need to communicate with external parties that are prevented from creating a PreVeil account.

  • The Email Gateway will allow you to use your PreVeil Mail to communicate with these external parties.

How does Email Gateway work?

  • A user will send an email from the PreVeil account, that email will be encrypted by PreVeil until it arrives at the Email Gateway server.

  • At the Email Gateway server, the encryption will be recoded to SMTP by way of a Mail Transfer Agent (MTA). The Email Gateway supports communication via TLS 1.2.

  • That email will then make it’s way to the external party’s mail servers, and then on to the inbox of their email client.

How do I get started with Email Gateway?

  • Email Gateway is an add-on that must be purchased before it can be configured and utilized. To inquire about purchasing Email Gateway, please contact sales@preveil.com

  • Once it has been purchased, a member of the PreVeil Technical Customer Support team will work with you to start an Email Gateway project to get the Email Gateway server provisioned and configured.

Whitelisting External Email Addresses in the Email Gateway

Once you’ve purchased the Email Gateway and the server has been provisioned and configured, you can whitelist external email addresses or domains by:

  • Clicking the Admin Console icon in the upper right hand corner of the PreVeil browser application, and then selecting Email Gateway from the menu.
