PreVeil Express (PVX) is a web application that allows for the creation and usage of a PVX account. A PVX and a full PreVeil account differ in that a PVX account is used solely on a web browser and is intended for light use of the PreVeil system while a full PreVeil account requires client software installation and carries a range of features.

PreVeil Express account log in uses multi-factor authentication in form of a password and SMS verification code.

A PreVeil Express account’s private key is encrypted by the password and PreVeil does not store, nor does it have access to passwords. For this reason, PreVeil Support is unable reset or recover a password. Similarly, the mobile phone number for MFA cannot be changed.

Create an account

A PreVeil Express account is formed by opening a web browser and going to https://web.preveil.com/create-account .

• Enter your regular email address as your PreVeil User ID.

Open

• An automated email from verification.no-reply@preveil.com with a six-digit code will be sent to you email inbox.

• Enter the code in the verification code field and continue.

• Enter your first and last name and agree to the terms of use.

• Set a password. The password must be at least eight characters long and have at least one number and one capital letter. Note that the password is permanent and cannot be changed. Please keep your password in a place. PreVeil does not store and cannot recover your password.

• Enter a nine-digit mobile phone number that will be used to send a SMS one-time verification code. Note that the phone number cannot be changed.

• Enter the verification code received by SMS.
  
  

• The account is now activated.

Logout

• To close a PreVeil Express user session, point the mouse cursor to your name, in the drop-down menu click Logout.

• A session will also terminate if the browser tab is closed, or automatically after a consecutive 24 hour period.

Upgrade

An upgrade is the option to convert an existing PreVeil Express account to a full PreVeil account. The steps to upgrade are the following.
NOTE:
The full installed version of PreVeil includes additional security and many advanced features. If you can install software, we suggest the full version to get the most out of your PreVeil experience.

Once you upgrade, your password and PreVeil Express login will no longer be used.

To initiate an upgrade from PreVeil Express to a full PreVeil account:

Mouse over your name in the upper right-hand corner of the PreVeil Express browser session and click the Upgrade PreVeil option.

There then four steps to complete:

1. Verify system requirements
   PreVeil Support desktop client installation for several versions of MacOS and Windows
   System Requirements

2. Read the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy and download the installation file
   PreVeil Download

3. Run the installer
   When the download finishes, go to your Downloads folder to open and run PreVeil installer.
   MacOS: PreVeil.dmg
   Windows: PreVeilInstaller.msi

4. Login and Upgrade
   Login to your current PreVeil Express account to begin the upgrading and importing your information into a full featured PreVeil account.
   
   
   

• Log in.

• Enter the password.

• Enter the SMS verification code.

• You will receive notification that your account has been activated and will be prompted to create a Recovery File to protect your PreVeil encryption key. Click on the Create Recovery File button to do so.
